Marketing In The News

                      PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS

Beyond Meat Debuts Plant-Based Chicken Tenders At 400 Indie Restaurants

I found this article interesting because we  as consumer's are starting to see more and more advertising and marketing for fake meat products.

As plant-based meat products make their way to the market so is Beyond. Known for their plant-based Faux burger, Beyond is making their way back from some mishaps and failures with Chicken Tenders. By putting their chicken Tenders back on the market and doing a test run in 400 Indie Restaurants they have landed with deals in Restaurants like, Danny's, Carl's Jr., and Del Taco. A major break thru since their down fall in 2019 when their frozen line was dropped.

With a new recipe consisting of Faba beans and peas Beyond now has a global deal with a fast food chain parent company YUM BRANDS. The new Tenders with 14 grams of protein and 40% less saturated fat than some competitors, are the the result of "our tireless pursuit for excellence and growth " according to Dariush Ajami cheif  innovation officer touting the product's "exceptional culinary experience and strong nutritional benefits".

As part of the company's hype around the new product Beyond's CEO Ethan Brown will host his first Reddit AMA on Monday. The brand hasn't released details about sales to grocery channels but plans to distribute the tenders at colleges, Hotels, stadiums, and other venues. Brands like Meati, Eat just and Upside Foods are leading the charge on cultured chicken for the U.S. and other markets. But Beyond is quickly making it's mark among them.

If I was the marketing Manager I think I would keep pushing and promoting test runs to see if the product is going to sell. Keep marketing to the younger crowd that is forever looking for an alternative to meat. I would keep looking for company's that are looking for fresh new ideas. What I learned from this article is that no matter if you fail you have to keep moving forward and find what works!
